This is a proposal to translate the core part of the website (7615 words), navigation menu (147 words), footer 1 (142 words) &
footer 2 (5 words) to Norwegian, amounting to 7909 words. I think that those Norwegians who are not as sturdy in English will
appreciate being able to learn what Monero is about in their native language. I would like to help facilitate this and to
make sure they understand Monero better by providing a solid translation.
About one month ago I translated the GUI wallet to Norwegian. I spent quite some time on this translation as I
wanted everything to be right, and it seems that the reviewers were pleased with my work. I previously asked for
3 XMR to translate the GUI wallet (3489 words). Given the same XMR/word ratio, this equates to just below 7 XMR.
To compensate for values that should not have been counted in my text editor, I suggest deducting 1 XMR for this, so I
ask for a final amount of 6 XMR. The translation will consist of one milestone – the translation of all 7909 words. I will translate
the content and I expect to use 3-4 days on translating this.

This is the funding request for Monero Research Lab's Concise Linkable Ring Signatures (CLSAG) research. CLSAG promises to provide more efficient Monero transactions without sacrificing privacy. CLSAG improves Monero transactions with no meaningful disadvantages. It's a drop-in improvement for MLSAG like Bulletproofs was. CLSAGs require a hardfork to implement.
The Monero Audit Workgroup cooperated with [OSTIF](https://ostif.org/) to create [this SoW](https://ia601504.us.archive.org/24/items/jp-ostif-clsag-signed/JP%20OSTIF%20CLSAG%20SIGNED.pdf) with [Teserakt](https://teserakt.io/). The Monero community has cooperated with OSTIF for the past [Bulletproofs](https://ostif.org/the-ostif-and-quarkslab-audit-of-monero-bulletproofs-is-complete-critical-bug-patched/) [audits](https://ostif.org/the-quarkslab-and-kudelski-security-audits-of-monero-bulletproofs-are-complete/) and [RandomX audits](https://ostif.org/four-audits-of-randomx-for-monero-and-arweave-have-been-completed-results/).
The workgroup consists of the following members. They do not receive compensation:
* ArticMine
* binaryFate
* Justin Ehrenhofer
* Sarang Noether (abstained)
* SerHack
Cost breakdown:
* Audit amount: $14,400
* OSTIF fee (10%): $1,440
* OSTIF audit credit: ($4,800)
* Subtotal: $11,040
* Buffer (10%): $1,104
* Total: $12,144
* XMR ($68): 179
Teserakt has already begun working on this audit by their own decision.
Any excess or shortfalls from volatility will be donated to or paid by the Monero General Fund.

# Monero Atomic Swaps research funding
From [https://github.com/h4sh3d/xmr-btc-atomic-swap](https://github.com/h4sh3d/xmr-btc-atomic-swap):
> In blockchains where hashed timelock contracts are doable atomic swaps are already deployed, but when one blockchain doesn't have this capability it becomes a challenge. This protocol describes how to achieve atomic swaps between Bitcoin and Monero with two transactions per chain without trusting any central authority, servers, nor the other swap participant.
## Motivation:
Two years ago (Dec 2017), I published a draft to swap between Bitcoin and Monero.
In March 2019 I rewrote the protocol in more details, specifying what kind of zero-knowledge proofs were needed to guarantee the "trustlessness" of the protocol and the known limitations of the scheme, funded by my previous employer.
zkao and I presented the protocol at 36C3 in December 2019 ([link here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-v6hDnzpds)). After discussing it during March and April on #monero-research-lab IRC, andytoshi's idea of using "discrete logarithm equality across groups" that sarang has a write-up [here](https://web.getmonero.org/resources/research-lab/pubs/MRL-0010.pdf), I changed the zero-knowledge requirements by adapting the protocol, but the protocol, thus on-paper complete, was still not implementable as it used an inactive bitcoin op-code: `OP_AND`.
Recently I learned some new cryptographic tricks with ECDSA that should make the protocol complete and implementable with today's tools without requiring hash pre-image zero knowledge proofs.
**This research will update the draft protocol to completely remove hash pre-image zero-knowledge proof requirement.**
So far, I've carried out the latest research on my spare time. I can now use part of my working time to continue. My company has an internal budget for doing research, and because it's my first funding request, it will match the raised funds. Thus I will request 1/2 week of funding from the community, and will spend 1 week working on this project.
## Overview:
R & D Institution: Cryp GmbH (I work and own part of the company)
Funding: Monero CCS
Duration: 40 hours of research (of which 20h paid by community)
Job completion: Within 2 months after successful funding
Contributors:
* Principal researcher: h4sh3d
* Supervisor: zkao
Licences: All work will released under CC-BY-4.0
Expiration date: If not funded or completed until July 31, 2020 funds can be released
## Project Roadmap:
One week of research and writing.
### Deliverable:
* **Revised version of "Bitcoin--Monero Cross-chain Atomic Swap":** new version with updated cryptographic primitives and protocol variation
## Cost
I ask for the equivalent of 1200 USD from CCS.
Therefore, using a 7-day EMA of 66.21 USD/XMR from Kraken the request total is __18.~~12~~ XMR__.
## Feedback
First CCS, so questions, comments, and feedback regarding this request are very welcome.

Hello! Dr. Sarang Noether here, ready to continue full-time research, development, and analysis in privacy-focused cryptography and applications. You can read my previous monthly reports for [April](https://repo.getmonero.org/monero-project/ccs-proposals/-/merge_requests/131#note_9896) and [May](https://repo.getmonero.org/monero-project/ccs-proposals/-/merge_requests/131#note_9975) to see what I've been up to recently. A report for June is forthcoming at the end of the quarter.
This funding request covers the period from July through September 2020. There's plenty to do, with a few big-ticket items in particular:
- CLSAG audit. The [CLSAG](https://eprint.iacr.org/2019/654) audit planning process (which has been quite the endeavor) is being finalized, and I will coordinate the technical efforts for this process.
- Arcturus applications. The [Arcturus](https://eprint.iacr.org/2020/312) proving system leads naturally to an efficient transaction protocol. Math and implementation involving multisignatures, cooperative signing, and anonymity set selection are ongoing.
- Protocol improvements. As always, research and development are ongoing to determine safe and efficient ways to improve transaction privacy, fungibility, and functionality while mitigating different types of adversarial heuristics.
And of course, there is always research and development that arises as we go. Expect code review, the usual updates and changes, outreach, literature review, proof-of-concept code and testing, documentation, and more.
I work hard to provide value in my research for the value provided here. As before, this request is for the equivalent of 10415 USD monthly, my assessment of fair market compensation for an independent Ph.D. researcher in the United States. Therefore, using an SMA-20 of 66.37 USD/XMR from Kraken with a 10% volatility buffer, the request total is **518 XMR**. To reduce the effects of price fluctuation, the XMR equivalent of the USD total for this request will be used to determine the amount for full payment when the request is filled. Any shortfall or excess at that time will be taken up by the general fund, as agreed to by the Monero core team.
Questions, comments, and feedback about this request are welcome.
