Hey all!
Thank you for the amazing reception and feedback of our first ccs-proposal and the Tail Emission video. We've seen a lot of excitement and engagement with over 7,000 accumulated views in just the initial days.
Our vision is to keep diving deeper into Monero's complex and sometimes tricky and misunderstood features, translating them into short, engaging, and most importantly, understandable animated videos. Here's what we suggest to cover in this proposal:
Random X: Understanding the significance of ASIC resistance

# Who
I am [Boog900](https://github.com/Boog900), you can see my last CCS [here](https://repo.getmonero.org/monero-project/ccs-proposals/-/merge_requests/469).
# What
I will work for 3 months on Cuprate with an initial focus on releasing an alpha `cuprated`, the basic roadmap can be seen here: https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/issues/376.
I plan to work on what I think is best to advance the project.
I am also asking for payment for the hours I worked in January. We had some discussions about changing the way we
get funded, potentially making a combined "cuprate CCS", however we decided against it, this lead to the delay of this CCS.
A list of things I did during January:
- finished the init PR: https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/pull/344
- worked on improving our consensus API: https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/pull/366, to prepare for fast-sync.
- Started working on [issue 174](https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/issues/174): https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/pull/382
- Investigated why monerod was syncing the first 100,000 blocks faster than cuprated, which lead to this PR: https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/pull/377
- Started working on changing monero-oxide's tx type to use compressed points: https://github.com/Cuprate/serai/tree/monero-comp-points
- Started working on fast-sync: https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/tree/fast-sync
All the tasks that have been started are pretty much ready just need to be cleaned up, they are all used in the fast-sync branch
which a few people have tested syncs on, the quickest sync _so far_ was just over 4 hours.
# Funding
I am asking for 40 XMR for my work in January.

# Haveno Multi-Platform Native App for Android, iOS, Windows, MacOS and Linux
### Haveno Multi-Platform Native App for Android, iOS, Windows, MacOS and Linux
**Author**: Kewbit
**Date**: 19/08/2024
# Proposal termination December 31st, 2024
A contractor presented themselves to the CCS for the sole purpose of creating a Multi-OS Haveno App using a portion of funds from the abandoned Haveno frontend proposal. [1] (of which 378XMR remain)
There has since been a public controversy surrounding this proposal/contractor. [2] [3]
The CCS itself is devoid of opinion/emotion regarding 'extra curricular' activities. [4]
As per the Community meeting on December 7th [5], the partial payout request was unanimously denied.
During this meeting, Woodser, the lead developer of Haveno suggested [6]:
> [a] deadline to release the code, in hopes of getting the code for the greater benefit of the project
Whilst the majority voted to close the proposal with immediate effect.
Community trust and sentiment plays a significant role in our Crowdfunding System. For this contractor, it has been **irrevocably and permanently lost**.
On December 10th the contractor was *explicitly informed* [7] to not expect payment outside of milestones 2.
_"Work done as per your proposal is work paid"_:
* As per the contractors own admission[8] on December 21st via another partial payout request, the work is not done.
The decision is simple and the contractor is to blame. They:
* Will not continue working on the proposal until a partial payout is made. (This will not happen again)
* Demand a decision as soon as possible.
All deadlines have passed:
* The latest, mentioned by the contractor in their own proposal (*31st December*)
* The community calling for immediate closure (*December 7th*)
* One mention of allowing an extra week to complete[9] (*December 14th*).
* Given this, the expert witness review will now focus solely on:
1. Validating the legitimacy of the previous Milestone 2 payout (75 XMR)[10].
2. Assessing the utility of the existing open source code for future development.
If Milestone 2's work meets the proposal requirements and the existing source code is of high quality, despite being incomplete, a new team or contractor can continue the development after a more stringent vetting process if the community wishes to continue this venture.
Should the review expose any shortcomings in the payout review process, these will be addressed moving forward.

## Overview
The Haveno Multi-Platform Native App will be an interface for decentralized applications that can connect to the Haveno Daemon, allowing users to conduct transactions in Monero (XMR) using the Haveno decentralized network. Users will be able to buy and sell multiple fiat currencies with their XMR through Haveno. The app will be able through all app stores and installers, or you can build from source.

## What
Work full-time for 480 hours on:
- Cuprate
- Alpha release cycle [1](https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/issues/371) [2](https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/issues/374)

- Project roadmap Q1/Q2 goals [1](https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/issues/376) [2](https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/pull/369) [3](https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/pull/370)
- Misc. review work
- Monero
- FCMP++ related review [1](https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/9440) [2](https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/9436) [3](https://github.com/monero-project/monero/issues/9422#issuecomment-2504037485)
Cuprate is preparing its first alpha release, with a 4-week cycle. A progress report for 2024 is [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/1ij2sw6/cuprate_2024_progress_report), the roadmap for 2025 is [here](https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/issues/376). I will be buying/renting a variety of hardware for testing/development and will post receipts for all hardware acquired at the time of exchange within this CCS.
If developer resources becomes a bottleneck for FCMP++ activation on `monerod`, I will switch priority when/where possible. This was discussed [here](https://github.com/monero-project/meta/issues/1137). Otherwise, I will continue working on Cuprate Q1/Q2 goals noted in the project roadmap, specifically: user book, release cycle, RPC integration [1](https://github.com/Cuprate/cuprate/issues/379).

3-Months full-time software development on monero "core" components in 2025 q1/q2.
## What
Work primarily on `monerod`, `wallet`, and `monero-lws`. Some of the work to be attempted or investigated:
- Code reviews of monero core PRs
- monerod/monero-lws bug fixes and HackerOne mitigations as they arrive
- Keep existing PRs up-to-date:
- New Serialization routine
- Change from raw pointers to weak_ptrs in levin code
- Socks v5
- P2P SSL Support
- Updating levin callbacks to C++14 moves
- Embargo timeout fix
- Find (possible) memory leak in weak_ptr PR
- Complete work necessary to merge [DANE/TLSA in wallet2/epee](https://github.com/vtnerd/monero/tree/improve/dane_tlsa).
- Adding trust-on-first-use support to wallet2
- Add msgpack support to monerod-ZMQ (requires merging of new serialization system)
- `monero-lws` work:
- Determine a “push” interface for LWS clients (instead of existing poll interface)
- Complete LWS frontend (using `wallet_api.h` as interface) so that wallets can begin using LWS API easily. This is separate from woodser et al working on LWS API within `wallet2` which may be deprecated.
- Add a new utility (to LWS-frontend) that accepts a spend key to report balance+spent transactions of wallet (requested via Github Issues). This will help verify accuracy of LWS endpoints
- Update LWS spec and implementation to support new "carrot" features (view-balance key, etc)
- Update LWS backend to work with fcmp++ experimental branch
- Add a "scale" factor to remote scanning load balancing - send more accounts to systems with faster single thread performance
- Add 64-bit ed25519 code for faster arm64 scanning
- Provide official LWS docker-image
- Provide pre-built binaries
- (Unlikely) - reproducible builds so community members can verify+sign the binary hashes
There is intentionally more work than time allows - to ensure there is always something to work on in the proposal.
## Who
Lee Clagett (vtnerd). I've [had](https://ccs.getmonero.org/proposals/vtnerd-tor-tx-broadcasting.html) [five](https://ccs.getmonero.org/proposals/vtnerd-2020-q4.html) [CCS](https://ccs.getmonero.org/proposals/vtnerd-2021-q1.html), [proposals](https://ccs.getmonero.org/proposals/vtnerd-2023-q3.html) ([last one](https://ccs.getmonero.org/proposals/vtnerd-2024-q3.html)), and [one Magic Grant](https://monerofund.org/projects/Q1Q2_2024_dev_vtnerd).
Some of my biggest features in monero core repo are [Dandelion++](https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/6314), [adding supercop ASM speedups to wallet code](https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/6337), [ZeroMQ Pub Support for new blocks and transactions](https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/6418), and [SSL support to p2p](https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/8996).
I've also made a functional LWS wallet scanner under CCS/Magic - which now has a MyMonero compatible REST API (now fully non-blocking to support more responses per thread), admin REST API, LMDB storage, subaddress support, webhook/zmq/rmq publishing (new receives, spends, and accounts), multi-machine scanning with (primitive) load-balancing, and an untrusted daemon mode that verifies PoW is valid (whereas normal wallets trust `monerod` responses entirely).
## Proposal
Work on the various tasks outlined above for 40 hours/week over the next 3 months after potential funding. I already use time-tracking software for work; if the hours dip in a given month unexpectedly, the update/milestone will be at the completion of the hours listed above.
The funds were calculated with 65 USD/hour with ~232.20 USD/XMR which is the 14-day exponential moving average on Kraken through 2025/02/21.
