About this Proposal

Translation of the GUI Wallet, monero-site, Monero Means Money (subtitles) and Sound Money, Safe Mode (subtitles) to Polish.

About Me

Hey, I'm Paul Janowitz and have been around in the Bitcoin space from 2012, came into Monero in 2016, some will recognise me from Twitter, Reddit, IRC or moderating the Telegram groups (where I had to step down unfortunately due to lack of time).

I have already contributed lots of translations into Polish and German (where I'm both native speaker) on the old system and also on Weblate in my free time whenever possible. The GUI translation into Polish doesn't need much work any more, but the website still does. If the proposal will not get fully funded, I will proceed according to the milestones listed below, since the subtitles are a nice to have but I don't see them as crucial like the GUI and website.

I am submitting this proposal since I think to bring both the experience and already have proven to be willing to contribute my time to the project.

  • I would prefer to see this approved instead of !187 (closed) . I already worked with @janowitz and he is an active contributor who already participated in the activities of the Monero Localization Workgroup in past.

It's been a long time ago already and the delay was huge. I don't want to belittle it, since it was my fault.

However, my translation Milestone 1 was ready early January (a huge part as "anonymous" already end of December due to a bug in the system), but I had no reviewer for it (which was not part of this proposal, however I didn't want to let it "as is"). Finally I talked with an old (semi-technical) friend from Poland about Monero and he was excited and willing to learn about, so I asked if he could read through all the translations if they are understandable for an average guy and in this turn we also added all new and changed phrases, so the GUI & Website translation should be final.

So, as of now both presentations are fully translated into Polish.

However, the getmonero.org site again got some major updates in the meantime and there are a lot of new strings, summing up to 1,538 words in strings without suggestion and 1,231 words in strings where the source got edited, which I'm now working on.
