Deploy simple provably-fair, community funded monero casino.

Hello! I'm M0n3r0D1c3, and I've created casino for Monero. Yup already created, the code is written and it works pretty well. Hence - it was even deployed once but died because of lack of proper marketing and funding.

Here are some screenshots:

Here is an overview of features

  • Provably fair bets, casino can't fake the bet result.
  • No minimum bet, withdrawal and deposit amounts.
  • Community funded bankroll - If you don't feel like playing in casino you can always pick the other side. Be a investor and take adventage of the 1% house edge!
  • On-site chat bridged with telegram chatroom and tip command.
  • Referral system.
  • Deposits can be made using any of the currencies supported by majesticbank and will be exchanged onto xmr and deposited to the site.
  • Monero as accepted currency and Bitcoin as a tolerated currency (with an option to add other currencies, if community wants that).

Now here come few elephants in the room:

  • The casino was already started once - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5383564 - but failed due to, lack of investments, lack of marketing, time and funds to promote the site.
  • I'm having extremely bad time with predicting monero transaction fee using the rpc wallet, so the fee amount is constant and the difference is being cashed back to the account (even if negative).

That being said, I'm opening this CCS to get funding mainly for hosting the service, buying the domain (and getting some more attention by the community).

All I'm asking for is money for the VPS with following specs that will run a hidden service, xmr (full) and btc (pruned) node.

  • 2GB Memory
  • 512 GB (mixed hdd and ssd)
  • Unmetered Bandwidth

For 10

/m.o. for one year, resulting in a 120.00
yearly price

And another VPS, bought at another vendor that will be responsible for serving clearnet frontend (it will act as a proxy for the hidden service on clearnet.)

It's specs are similar, except for storage - only around 25GB. The offer that I found cost 6

/m.o. (72
/year) and will do the job.

Why two servers? Because one server will be easy to find in case the site will get reported. And at worst case scenario they will take down the clearnet service, but the hidden service will remain up and working - that allow me to buy another server to serve clients (or at worst case scenario - allow people to withdraw their funds).

Last expense is the domain. I think that domain name should be discussed as a part of this prospal. Njal.la will be a good choice for a provider, and their pricing is at 15eur - 70eur, but I think that the most interesting domain names are at 30eur - so domain name will cost us around 35$.

To sum everything up:

  • vps server 1: 120.00$
  • vps server 2: 72.00$
  • Domain: 35.00$
  • Total: 227$

According to Market Rates: Apr 4, 2022 at 12:53 PM UTC fetched from CoinMarketCap 227 USD is equal to 1.07187734 XMR (~1.08 XMR)

If you wish to discuss some things with me directly, please contact me using telegram - @M0n3r0D1c3. Or comment on this proposal, I'll be happy to explain everything.

P.S. After funding this proposal I'll be able to deploy the site within few days - including monero node sync time (bitcoin sync however will take somewhat longer amount of time). But the site will need investors that will provide bankroll, to become a investor all you need to do is deposit money on site and create a new investment on the bottom of it. I won't be able to provide any bankroll because my personal monero holding are relatively small (I wouldn't ask for 1XMR otherwise).

    • How many GB are needed for a bitcoin full node and a Monero full node? Are there any other similar casino services in existence? for example, those on this list https://casinosblockchain.io/monero-casinos/ (i have not used any of them so can't confirm if they actually accept monero) (i remember seeing 'provably fair' Monero casinos being posted on reddit. There is also a 'gambling' type site called https://moneropot.org/. there is also a website where you can bet on the hash value of the next block (i can't remember the website at the moment)

Have you approached majesticbank for sponsorship?

Can investors trust you not to run away with their funds considering you are anonymous and unable to afford 1 XMR for initial setup costs?

Because the amount requested is quite small. and your website will be multi crypto, have you considered hosting your own crowdfunding page? like this one https://rucknium.me/donate/ ? ( https://github.com/plowsof/flipstarter-waas-wip )

Hey @plowsof! Thanks for your time and for reading my proposal!

How many GB are needed for a bitcoin full node and a Monero full node?

Monero: according to https://bitinfocharts.com/monero/ monero is 63GB and bitcoin is 462 GB. That being said, monero will run as a full node and bitcoin will be pruned to use rest of the storage that is not required by monero.

Are there any other similar casino services in existence? for example, those on this list https://casinosblockchain.io/monero-casinos/ (i have not used any of them so can't confirm if they actually accept monero)

I've used some of them in the past, and some of them are very good, but they are partially regulated, banned in some countries, (some even block registration to only (at)gmail.com and (at)outlook.com emails), have problems with withdrawing, and do not offer investment option.

(i remember seeing 'provably fair' Monero casinos being posted on reddit.

Yup! That was probably me! But that was a fail-start due to several reasons, mostly because lack of time to promote it, lack of funding and investments.

There is also a 'gambling' type site called https://moneropot.org/.

And it is very good! Same with monero.win! But they offer very different kind of game, while moneropot.org is a raffle and require you to wait a couple of days to draw the results, and monero.win is problematic if you want to place a bigger bet (You have to place multiple bets and be quick at it).

My site is just a dice, where you pick a client seed, I pick a server seed and we can bet any amounts as fast as we want, it is a different game, for which I have very nostalgic feeling (used to be a frequent visitor of bitcoin's JustDice and later 999dice, and YoloDice) from which the latter two are no longer operating and first one decided to create it's own currency...

Have you approached majesticbank for sponsorship?

We have talked about it few months ago, but due to reasons I mentioned earlier it didn't work out. And I want to restart the site one more time - this time with community support. Because if community doesn't want a site like this then I see no point in deploying it.

Can investors trust you not to run away with their funds considering you are anonymous and unable to afford 1 XMR for initial setup costs?

I'm not a rich person, and I wish that I could point to my real profile that I'm using on internet, but sadly I can't do so because then I'd have to run the casino in a regulated way (which I don't want to.) or I risk my business getting closed and me getting fined.

Because the amount requested is quite small. and your website will be multi crypto, have you considered hosting your own crowdfunding page?

Monero is the accepted currency for the site and bitcoin is there as an alternative currency. But the focus is mainly on XMR

And I didn't really consider hosting my own crowdfunding page as the site already have a investment tab that have a 1% fee (which is used for paying referral bonus, and possibly hosting fees.). So all I need is 1XMR to start this up and then it will work on it's own.

  • I think there was an issue with pseudorandom being exploited. This is before my time. I'm guessing nobody knows who Lisa is but stats showed that this person won an extreme amount of XMR and had better than normal luck.

  • Author Contributor

I think that no 'unusual luck' will happen, and even if somebody will have a very lucky day the site is coded to not allow bets larger than 0.05 of bankroll, so taking all money out of the site would require a lot of luck. Also, using suck kind of mechanism makes sure that no paper monero will get printed on the way, the sum of investor's balance and player's balance is equal to the amount available for withdrawal, no matter what happens.

  • The ask is very small. I would take a flyer on this one.

Thank you @OrneryMaintenance and @luigi1111. I can already see that the it got fully funded (which makes me really happy  ).

Since this is my first proposal I'm unsure what should I do next, how can I redeem the funds to be able to setup the server and domain?

  • Seems like your message got lost @m0n3r0d1c3 , how can someone contact you, are you on IRC / Matrix? step 1: somehow send me a message on matrix https://matrix.to/#/@plowsof:matrix.org then i can forward you to HR lol

Hey @plowsof It's been 3 days since your comment and I tried to create account on various matrix homeservers over tor but sadly none of them let me in mostly due to google captcha. Could you tell where can I catch you on IRC or give me your briar, if you use it?

  • My apologies for specifically linking Matrix. https://libera.monerologs.net/ Here the Monero rooms (most are bridged to matrix). Find someone called 'luigi1111' and link this proposal, you'll probably need to prove you are m0n4r0 d1c3 so could you be ready to put / edit the last 4 letters of your payout address in a comment here when contacting them, thanks!

I confirm that I own this monero address: 89TMMo5V3nNJquSTjDJnNf91t255D4imp7r6QznRmw5sJX4rhHPDqhCZKp3YfQuKeg1mryFspnEznSNDgbBVV1pWNdq3R2T

Work have just started! Head over to https://mokazino.net/ for updates!

  • Congrats on getting the casino live! However, https://mokazino.net/ returns 502 Bad Gateway. Marketing a casino brand is difficult and requires time and money. One of the most cheap and efficient ways to promote your casino is through affiliate marketing. You can create a tracking link and share some of the profit with the people sending traffic to your site. This can be done with affiliate software (a cheap option is PostaffiliatePro) or you can create a custom solution for that. Having this will allow you to list your sites on crypto casino comparison websites: https://bitcoincasinowiz.com/monero/ There aren't many Monero casinos on the market, so it is a good opportunity.

  • user monerobull notified me about this being offline (still - as i see it was reported as being offline 1 month ago). The source code is here (i created my own fork) https://github.com/plowsof/MoKazino

Again, a small asking amount upfront does not guarantee the service will run: see monero archive / this proposal.

No matter the asking amount - funds will have to be released monthly or bi-monthly (only if the service has had 80+% up time or something). A learning experience.
