SyntheticBird Site and CCS UI/UX, Transitions & Animations work (4 months)
Who
I am SyntheticBird, Cuprate contributor. I've accomplished a CCS for integrating Tor into Cuprate a year ago.
What
This CCS work is in cooperation with redsh4de's latest ccs proposal. For more context, please visit their CCS proposal.
The CCS overhaul and redesign project gives us the opportunity to enhance the UI style and UX entirely. I believe we can provide a more comfortable and intuitive experience for most users by redesigning the pages, components and incorporating modern features like transitions and animations.
-
UI/UX Redesign: I will spend time drafting and designing components and pages that are well looking and intuitive for people to interact with, with easy to catch informations. After composition of pages, we will collect valuable feedbacks and refine this work where needed.
-
Animations: CSS Transitions & Animations are an excellent way to provide a nicer and distinguishable experience for most visitors. This help signify them informations through their own interaction or redirecting their attention if or where needed. A byproduct of this work, will be making the pages "looks cooler". This work is entirely CSS based.
-
View Transitions: View Transitions API is a relatively recent standard that permits to animate page transitions. This could offer a blank-page/break free navigation for most newcomers, easing the eye and letting them stay in context and focus on exploring. This work is javascript-based and will be incompatible with most privacy-fronting browsers, but will in no way hurt the usability of the website for nojs users.
Most of the CSS transitions work would also be ported to many components of redsh4de's new monero-site.
Where
The CCS website work will be accomplished within https://github.com/SyntheticBird45/monero-ccs-site repository. The monero-site work will be accomplished within https://github.com/redsh4de/monero-site repository.
Both work are licensed under the BSD-3 Clause license.
Milestones
The milestones are unlikely to be completed in order
Milestone 1: UI/UX designing for CCS monero site
12 XMR This milestone will be worked in parallel of redsh4de's CCS items, and will likely be considered completed at the very end of their CCS items.
Milestone 2: CSS Animations and Transitions for CCS website
18 XMR
Milestone 3: View Transitions for CCS site
9.25 XMR
Milestone 4: CSS Transitions work for monero-site
9.25 XMR
Funding
I will work 20 hours per week during 16 weeks for 50$ per hour at 330$ per XMR. 20 × 50 × 16 ÷ 330 = 48.5 XMR (rounded)
Communication
Progress being done as part of this CCS is very likely to be shared in #monero-site IRC channel (or #monero-site:monero.social).
