Mark vtnerd Q3 Part 1 Completed

Lee Clagett requested to merge vtnerd/ccs-proposals:patch-8 into master

The work this month was spread across many small tasks. Unfortunately no "big feature" to report, but:

I spent time a good chunk of the time updating the P2P SSL in monerod. The holdup has been that I discovered the P2P outgoing connection code expected synchronous behavior, but the SSL handshake code expected asynchronous. Converting is straightforward but this uses two ASIO threads, or the whole thing deadlocks. After further investigation, I realized the existing P2P outgoing connection code has the same issue. I have recently decided to do the "easy" thing for SSL, and worry about fixing the sync-to-async code in a future round of edits.

The serialization routines in monerod needed better constraints. Time spent analyzing a fix, and verifying that it worked with the entire set of transaction was performed.

I had to re-work the LMDB code in LWS, such that unspecified behavior was occurring. Finding the issue took the bulk of the time. I also had to re-work ZMQ read code after upstream changes. Another LWS issue was found in the LWS mempool code, which took some time identifying and tracking down.

I had to update lwsf to merge the upstream polyseed patch with the existing experimental polyseed code. I managed to keep existing wallets working while they transition to the newer API which differs slightly.

I also spent time digging into handling the "metadata secret" of Carrot. This included researching the history of monero wallet encryption, as a means of determining whether using an encryption key derived from the seed is viable. I don't see any issues with it, except that the seed would unravel everything in the wallet metadata in addition to the spend/receives on the blockchain.

There were tons of other small maintenance issues that had to get done, along with various monerod code reviews that took a good chunk of time.
