Who

I am Jackie (@PyXMR2025), a high school student.

Driven by a deep passion for blockchain and privacy-enhancing technologies, I dedicate my spare time to self-studying C++ and other essential IT skills (such as Linux) through school clubs and programming competitions, while contributing to Monero's development.

Here are some highlights of my recent contributions:

Merged

  • #11345: Implemented SHA-256 support for HTTP Digest Authentication (RFC 7616) in the epee library. This also includes a new --disable-md5 flag (suggested by @vtnerd, with thanks) to mitigate the known cryptographic weaknesses of MD5.

Under Review

  • #11457: Introduced DNS over TLS (DoT) support in dns_utils, adding support for custom DNS ports and IPv6, and replacing legacy sscanf() calls with the safer boost::asio::ip::address (suggested by @jpk68, with thanks).
  • #11475: OpenAlias Modernization: Cleared historical technical debt by optimizing OpenAlias TXT record parsing using boost::regex (resolving a long-standing TODO).
  • #11476: OpenAlias Modernization: Refactored the dnssec_valid boolean into a more rigorous dnssec_status enum (resolving another long-standing TODO).

All of the above was completed within a two-week period.

What

Over the next 3 months (from October to end of December 2026), I plan to dedicate 18 hours per week to providing consistent, part-time development support for Monero.

My focus will be divided into two main areas:

  1. Resolving long-standing TODOs: I have discovered a substantial number of historical TODOs in the codebase (over 150). I plan to evaluate and resolve as many of these as possible. This will not only improve the codebase but also serve as an excellent opportunity for me to deepen my understanding of Monero's architecture.
  2. Bug fixing: Proactively identifying and resolving bugs that I encounter during my ongoing learning and development work.

Proposal

Work for 18 hours per week over the next 3 months (from October to end of December 2026) at a rate of 30$ / hour + 0.01 XMR/hr. At 436.85$ / XMR (90-day EMA) this makes ~18.60 XMR.
