Monero currency and blockchain statistics hub
I recently polled the Reddit community about what they would like me to work on the most (https://www.strawpoll.me/17865855/r), and they answered "Currency statistics website". This is something that I feel Monero lacks. The closest thing is monero.how, which has aged and has a limited dataset on its site. I wish to create a website showcasing various statistics related to Monero. Most importantly, I wish to display the proportion of transactions using payment ID, fees and fee history, hashrate displayed using several different algorithms, network congestion and activity at different times, price movement and volume, social media and repository activity, with more.
The Monero community should have a solid and trustworthy source of statistics, especially right before and after forks. Speculation often runs wild, and with the ability to for example procedurally present the hashrate based on the latest blocks, we can curb scepticism. It also gives the community a base to see what different technologies did for the currency, like for example Bulletproofs, and to see which areas require future work.
The payment was set quite a lot below how much time and effort I expect to put into this, because I don't want to soak up money from other proposals. I want to work on this because I want to, but I also want to eat. Weirdly enough.
I am very open to different ideas, and hope to get some input :) The expiration date for this proposal is the 10th of June.

This is a good idea but I saw in your poll https://www.strawpoll.me/17865855/r, that "Video-sharing site distributing Monero instead of ad revenue to creators" with 14 votes won the poll. If I were able to vote I will vote for "Currency statistics website (fees, block statistics, social media activity, price and volume)". One thing I can add/suggest is for you to read the whole 'What is CCS' and maybe be more specific with the XMR amount you are asking, I can't see any amount, share some experience (have you done anything with the Monero community, this isn't a prerequisite but sure will add you points :)), give more details on your proposal. Well, I'm not doing the CCS, don't want to sound mean either, I feel is still missing more information, but it's a good initiative. If you add more information and be more specific I believe Monero Devs could take a better decision on your CCS.
Thank you for participating in the CCS. Happy contributing! :)
*Forgive me if you have done things for the community and I haven't noticed it. Do you have a Github account?
Yeah, there has come in a lot more votes than I thought there would. I expected the number one spot to stay. But I still feel like this is something we should have. I made Neutron wallet, which I cancelled due to the GUI wallet being superior, and I've done translations for Monerujo.
What details exactly do you wish to see? :)
EDIT: I should add that I have the unfinished source code available if you doubt my programming knowledge :P
Edited by CodivorousI support this proposal. It's now #5 (closed) in the poll, but I think it's best to start with a relatively simple project that fulfills a basic need.
This proposal has been discussed during the last community meeting, please take a look at the logs in monero-site!1063 (merged)
@erciccione I have said that I can post the Neutron source code if anyone wants to see it, but I don't want to publish it publicly in case someone decides to use it on the mainnet. It very much lacked in security checks when I abandoned it! But I respect your conclusions, and I'll probably just go away from this idea for now then. Maybe the item that was number one on the poll deserves some attention? ;) By the way, this was number 1 when I published it, but the poll suddenly tripled in votes for some reason, probably because America woke up. But I will resume work on this if Fluffypony manages to fish up his private keys and fund it. I do not see great commercial value in this, and therefore I cannot justify working on it without funding.
