jeffro256 full-time development 2026Q2
What
The last quarter was spent polishing the Carrot/FCMP++ integration, reviewing deeply, debugging, auditing, and upstreaming fixes.
I helped launched the Beta Carrot/FCMP++ Stressnet (twice to fix a stressnet-specific scaling bug). I helped review Phase 1 of
the FCMP++ merges. I re-wrote large portions of my carrot_core library to support certain off-chain knowledge proofs. I
worked on vulnerability reports. I implemented a block header compression scheme. I wrote a PR to significantly speedup (>8x)
important RPC calls for syncing wallets. I wrote a PR to speedup miner block template creation under load, and fix bugs regarding
that. I have PR'ed many smaller bug fix PRs as well.
In the following quarter, I want to continue this work. Here is a list of tasks I want to work towards completing in rough order:
- Review FCMP++ merges into the master codebase
- Support/review wallet API changes by SNeedlewoods
- Integrate support for Carrot-derived accounts in wallet2
- Further reach out and provide support to existing hardware wallet manufacturors on how to securely support Carrot/FCMP++ scanning/spending
- Help out with organizing FCMP++ integration audits
- Review FCMP++ integration changes and otherwise help wherever I can
Who
I have been contributing to the Monero core repository for over four years with a total of 174 merged commits to master thus far, with many open PRs. I wrote the Carrot specification, implemented it in C++ and Rust, organized audits for both the spec and implementation, and integrated it into the FCMP++ stressnet. I also worked on the Seraphis migration project in 2023/2024.
